S/V Hello World's Travel Log

craigslist comes through again

We've been on a hunt for an Avon RIB dinghy without having to drop $3,000. In fact, $800 was more to our liking. Once again, Craigslist delivered. We found a 1997 Avon 2.81 Rover fiberglass hull RIB right smack in our price range. We'll be putting up our wood floor dinghy on said Craigslist as soon as we get it shined up a bit.

Christy's sister, McKenzie, decided we should name our dinghy Most Ridiculous Plan in the Room from this story here.

Internet, meet our dinghy: Most Ridiculous Plan in the Room.

...where's the motor? ;)

What was wrong with the wooden floor dingy? You have a bail bucket....

Hey Kenz, sorry, you and Matt are gonna have to row it.

Nah, we kept the other motor. It's just currently mounted on the stern rail at the moment.

Ryan - the other dinghy was super storable but not as great at hauling weight around. We want to be able to haul fuel, water, provisions in a bit of chop. Easier to do that in a RIB than a removable floor dinghy. Plus, the rocks in the Inside Passage would make short work of the hull.

Nice! Is that a head up on the bow?

Gotta love Cragslist. Still haven't found my dream dinghy:

Hey, I'm in the market for a super-storable dink. How big is your old one and how much are you asking for it?

Hey Scott, it's an Avon 2.80 (around 9') hypalon dinghy with a solid wood floor. Email me at our gmail address: svhelloworld.
